R&D Hiring in India Increases

(Economic Times, 25 December 2011)

In Brief: R&D hiring in India is expected to increase by 15-20% this year as global companies continue expanding into the country.

Our View: Most companies overemphasize pay in their efforts to attract overseas R&D talent. However, when recruiting talent abroad, companies need to build advantage at every stage of the ‘talent attraction funnel.’ Double down on your efforts to familiarize potential hires with the company, get them to consider working there, and encourage them to apply. Also, invest heavily in learning the regional differences in career, work, and cultural preferences for R&D workforces. This helps to build a compelling employee value proposition that attracts and retains the right global R&D talent.
